Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible to swim with the team? Registration for, and participation in, swim team is limited to 2026 paid/approved registrants with a CCH Pool family membership. Swimmers must be 18 or younger as of June 1, 2026. These requirements are consistent with the CCH's obligations to the Northern Virginia Swim League. 

What are the Fees? Registration fees for 2026 Swim Team are: $150 per swimmer. The fee is the same whether your child swims with the Competition Team or with the Mini Sharks. A team t-shirt and a team latex cap will be included in this fee if registration and payment are completed by Sunday, May 3, 2026. There is no guarantee that additional t-shirts and caps will be available if registration and payment are made after 5/3. Swim Team fees are separate from your pools dues.

What do I wear to swim meets? For A meets, the team suit (or a black suit) will be REQUIRED.  Information regarding ordering team suits will be sent via email. For B meets, the team suit is encouraged but not required. Most swimmers also wear goggles and a swim cap.

What is the swim team refund policy? Refunds will be processed only for children who are registered either for the competition team or the Mini-Shark program but who, in the judgment of the coaching staff, do not pass the initial skills assessment. There will be NO other refunds.

Is my child allowed to start practices if I am on the Wait List for Pool registration? No. Swim Team participation is limited to swimmers with a paid/approved CCH Pool family membership.

Are there tryouts for the team? There is a skills assessment test, but no speed criteria to join our programs. The assessment applies only to swimmers who will be new to the Swim Team in 2026 as well as anyone who swam at the Mini-Sharks level in 2025. The swimmers placement (Mini Sharks or competition team will be determined at assessments). If your child has previously swam for another pool, please email the registrar ([email protected]) with which pool they swam for in the past. Assessments will take place prior to the season beginning - an email will be sent with the sign up information and details after registration is received.

Is there a cap on enrollment? For safety reasons, we have a provisional cap on the Mini Sharks program at 35 participants.

What are the CCH Swim Team Policies? Swim Team policies can be found on the Swim Team Home Page. Please review carefully before completing registration.

What is the 2026 practice schedule? We will begin after school and early evening practices for the Competition Team, weather permitting, starting Tuesday, May 26. Weekday morning practices for all age brackets will start, weather permitting, on Thursday, June 19. For those unable to attend morning practices, evening practices will be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please note that these evening practices are reserved for those who are unable to swim in the mornings due to camps, childcare, etc.
