If your child swam on the Competition Team in the prior year, register that child for the Competition Team


Transitional Program "Mini Sharks" Competition Team
Start Date Practices starts the first weekday after the last day of school for Fairfax County. (mornings) Evening practices start the Tuesday after Memorial Day. Morning practices start the next day after the last day of school for Fairfax County.
Age Range Recommended for ages 5 through 8. All participants should have focus and social skills suited to a large group setting. We therefore recommend that children do not start the program until completing kindergarten. Recommended for ages 7 through 18. Not recommended for anyone, regardless of age, who need substantial rest after completing just one length of the pool (please consider Transitional Program instead).
Age Restrictions Minimum age = 5 years of age as of June 1st, and able to meet Basic Skills Assessment. Maximum age is 10 years. Minimum age is 6 years as of June 1st, or completion of kindergarten, and able to meet Basic Skills Assessment. Under NVSL Rules, any swimmer who is 19 years or older as of June 1st is ineligible.
Basic Skills Assessment Test includes: (a) float on stomach with face in water; and (b) swim 10 meters unassisted, without regard to quality of stroke. Test includes: swim full length of pool (25 meters), unassisted, with legal stroke. Swimmers who can not meet this test may be offered placement in the Transitional Program – Mini Sharks.
Test waived for returning members of the Competition Team.

Enrollment Limit Provisional enrollment limit of 30 total participants to ensure we are providing a safe environment for all swimmers. This cap maybe adjusted depending on actual skills of enrolled participants. None.
Pool Membership There is no way to participate on the Swim team without first joining the CCH Pool. Under NVSL Rules and for insurance purposes, each swimmer must be part of an adult family member’s registration (full membership or season pass) at CCH.
