As everyone is preparing for this evening’s relay, I wanted to send a reminder to sign up for the Woodley mini meet! The deadline to sign up is coming up this Sunday. Details about the meet are below: 

The Woodley Invitational Mini-Meet will be Sunday, July 13 at Woodley Pool (7421 Camp Alger Ave, Falls Church). This is a fun event for swimmers ranging from Mini-Sharks through 10-year-olds.

The meet starts at 9:00 a.m. and typically goes until 1 or 2 p.m., our morning warm-up start time is 8:30 a.m.

Age Restrictions & Special Notes

Only kids 10 and under are eligible to participate. However, unlike the NVSL, kids will swim based on their age on July 13. This means, for example, if your son/daughter is 9 on July 13 they will swim as a 9-year-old, and if they are 11 on July 13 they will not be eligible.

Additionally, if your swimmer currently swims as an "8 & Under" and their 9th birthday occurs between June 1 and July 13, they will swim 50M for freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke. They may continue to swim 25 M butterfly.

Special Kickboard Events

For Mini-Sharks who cannot make it across the pool, there is a special kickboard freestyle event where junior coaches can be in the water with the Mini-Shark to provide personal reassurance and motivation. Swimmers participating in the kickboard freestyle event cannot participate in other events.

Event Signups

Each child may swim up to 3 events. Cost per event is $5 per swimmer. Payment method is the CCH Venmo @CCHsharks2021. Please mention the minimeet and your participant name(s) and event count in the Venmo comment.

Volunteer Opportunities

Thanks to everyone for volunteering! We still have a few timer spots open. Kids 13 and up can be timers, if an older sibling wants to help out.

Time Restrictions

Swimmers may be restricted from entering an event based on what is characterized as a “No Faster Than Time.” We will share those times closer to the event.

DEADLINE

Please submit entires by Sunday, July 6 at midnight so we can get our entries in on time. This is NOT an event we can do a late add, so please enter as soon as possible following the signup posting.
