Hi Sharks!

Sunday, July 14th, will be the Woodley Invitational Mini-Meet at Woodley Pool (7421 Camp Alger Ave, Falls Church). This is a fun event for swimmers ranging from Mini-Sharks through 10-year-olds (see the attached flyer). This is a special meet because swimmers compete ONLY against swimmers who are their own age, are seeded by times, etc. The meet will start at 9:00 AM and will go to probably 1 or 2pm, our morning warm-up start time is TBD.

Age Restrictions & Special Notes

Only kids 10 and under are eligible to participate. However, unlike the NVSL, kids will swim based on their age on July 14 and will only swim against kids their own age. This means, for example, if your son/daughter is 9 on July 14 they will swim as a 9-year-old, and if they are 11 on July 14 they will not be eligible. Another impact of this is that if your swimmer currently swims as an "8 & Under" and their 9th birthday occurs between June 1, 2024 - July 14, 2024, entry into this meet will require them to swim as a 9 yr old which would result in your child swimming 50M for freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke. They may continue to swim 25 M butterfly, all butterfly events at this meet are 25M only.

Special Kickboard Events

For Mini-Sharks who cannot make it across the pool, there is a special kickboard freestyle event (Events 1 & 2 at the meet) where junior coaches can be in the water with the Mini-Shark to provide personal reassurance and motivation. Please note that swimmers participating in the kickboard freestyle event cannot participate in other events.

Event Signups

Each child may swim up to 3 events. Cost per event is $5 per swimmer, so if your swimmer is in three events, it will cost $15. Preferred Payment method is the CCH Venmo @CCHsharks2021 but there will also be an envelope at the front desk for checks. Please mention the minimeet and your participant name(s) and event count in the venmo comment or check note. See attached for the event list.

Volunteer Opportunities

As always, we will need lots of volunteers! If you have a child swimming, please sign up to help in Swimtopia. Volunteer positions of timer and marshall can also be kids age 12 and older if an older sibling wants to help out! This is a great meet to help finish up volunteer requirements!

Time Restrictions

Swimmers may be restricted from entering an event based on what is characterized as a “No Faster Than Time.” See attached spreadsheet for the time restrictions and their origin (in the 2nd tab of the spreadsheet).

DEADLINE

Entries must be made by Sunday, July 7th, midnight. This is NOT an event we can do a late-add, so please enter as soon as possible following the signup posting.
